Twenty years of experience within the Legal & Compliance Departments of Republic National Bank of New-York (HSBC Republic), BNP Paribas (Suisse) SA and ING Belgium, Brussels, Geneva Branch, as Senior In-house counsel [Head of Legal, Compliance & Client Secretariat of ING/Head of Litigation, Legal Investigation & Legal Financial Security at BNP Paribas (Suisse) SA]. Acts in a broad range of contractual, financial transactions, pre-contentious and contentious matters, international and cross-border complex transactions. Specialized in international commercial legal and regulatory matters, under both advisory and (pre) litigation issues, including by acting as Counsel in the scope of major international arbitration with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Institution (SCAI), Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA), under Rules No 125 and 126, and also under the FOSFA Arbitration Rules, on contractual and contentious matters which arise between traders and their counterparties, owners, terminals, freight forwarders, surveyors and port authorities, with a focus on commodities (soft, oil, metal) and shipping transactions, the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (the LMAA) and others.

Cyrus has been completing on a continuing basis,  various mediation, arbitration, legal and regulatory education for lawyers both in Switzerland and in England.

Lecturer at the Finance & Banking Institute of Geneva, in the fields of international commodities and shipping transactions, Anti-Money Laundering/Corruption and International Embargos/Sanctions, Trade and Export Control Restrictions.

Cyrus represented a Swiss Company as Claimant in a complex ICC Arbitration matter against a Danish company as Respondent, in relation with a dispute related to a claim opposed by the Respondent relying on alleged objections under applicable US and EU international sanctions and embargos. The ICC Award issued in March 2022 entirely granted the reliefs sought on behalf of the claimant , including 100% recovery of principal, plus 9% of compounded default interest per year and full recovery of costs and expenses.
